Nuendo 6 and Cubase 7 announced

I came back from InterBEE which is a trade show of pro audio and broadcast equipment in Japan. Nuage got many attendees at its demonstrations.

On the same day, Nuendo 6 and Cubase 7 were announced.

I am a Cubase user at home. Cubase 7's new mixer and Channel Central screen are interesting. Added processors in the channel strip -- Gate, three types of compressors, Studio EQ with spectrum analyzer, Envelop Shaper, Tape and Tube saturation, and Limiter/Brick wall limiter/Maximizer in every channel strip, look powerful.

According to the news release,
Nuendo 6 will be available in the first quarter of 2013 and Cubase 7 will be available from December 5, 2012.

NUAGE debut

Yamaha and Steinberg launched a new production system.

The system includes Fader unit and Master unit for Nuendo integration, and variation of Dante audio interface units to establish audio network in a production studio. Of course, these audio interface are compatible with CL series.

Nuendo Live Now Available

Nuendo Live is the latest product offering from our friendly colleagues over at Steinberg.  I wrote up a post on it a while back which you can check out here if you're interested in learning more about the software.  Those of you already familiar with the software can get your hands on a trial version from the Steinberg website.  Nuendo Live will fit right in with your rig and CL Series owners can take advantage of the direct compatibility offered by utilizing Yamaha's CL Extension Plug-In and Dante.

We're looking forward to the possibilities now available with Nuendo Live and the CL Series of digital mixing consoles, hopefully you're as excited as we are!

When saving a console file...wait for ACCESS!

Live sound and commercial audio professionals often work on multiple Yamaha digital consoles. Storing an ALL console file makes bringing your mix with you easy, whether it is on an LS9, M7CL, or CL series console. Even though the process of saving a file may take less than a minute, the console is working hard to make sure everything is transferred over completely! You will always know that the console is at work when the ACCESS message appears on the console screen. As soon as the message returns to the current user title (for example. ADMIN, or GUEST), you know that it is safe to pull the USB flash drive out. Below are some screen shots to show an example of how it would appear on an M7CL series console. The location of the message is similar on the LS9, M7CL and CL series consoles.

If you do not wait for the ACCESS light to turn off, the console file may become corrupted. Trying to load this file into the console may cause it to malfunction, a bad situation for any FOH or monitor engineer! So what's the lesson? When saving your console file, finish a crossword puzzle, read a book or find some interesting shapes in the clouds...anything but pull out your flash drive while ACCESS is on!

01V96i Quick Start Guide

We've just released a brand new Quick Start Guide for our 01V96i Digital Mixing Console to help make your transition to the 01V96i even easier.  This guide isn't designed to replace the manual but it will be quite helpful for those of you familiar with mixing console theory looking to jump on an 01V96i for the first time.

The beginning of the guide runs through basic console operation and signal flow which many of you may already be familiar with if you've used an 01V96 in the past.  In addition to this however; the guide also offers tips on recording via USB to Cubase AI as well as setting up and syncing with the 01V96i Editor.  Towards the end of the guide you'll find some great shortcuts and tips perfect for maximizing productivity with the 01V96i.

CL Editor Now Available

Looking to find out more about the new CL Series functions & features? Here's your chance, we've just released the brand new standalone CL Editor for Windows & Mac.

The CL Editor doesn't require the StudioManagerV2 Host to run and instead operates as it's own host.  Just open up the CL Editor and you're ready to start programing the CL for your next gig.  There's also no longer a need for the DME-N Network Driver when syncing a CL console with your computer.  All console network information is input directly into the CL Editor via the "System Setup" option in the File menu.

There are lots of new features built into the CL Series so be sure to download your own copy of CL Editor to check some of them out.  I am personally quite fond of the new Premium Rack complete with dynamics processing from Rupert Neve.  Your own copy of CL Editor can be downloaded for free from our website by following the link below.
